We do this by creating opportunities where Latinas and Latinos advocate for themselves, actively participate in all civic institutions and take leadership roles in all decision-making tables. We are also building and growing political and community power in the region through our Action Fund and other affiliated organizations.

Based in Glenwood Springs, Voces Unidas was the first Latino-created, Latino-led, and Latino-serving advocacy organization in the central mountain region in Colorado. We operate in Garfield, Pitkin, Eagle, Lake and Summit counties. Voces Unidas includes four separate organizations, all which work independently to accomplish the larger mission. The Job
The Assistant to the CEO is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the CEO, Board of Directors, and management team and managing the organization’s office operations. This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position can be based in either the Denver or Glenwood Springs office. Occasional travel to the various offices in may be required.
Responsibilities
Provide sophisticated calendar management for CEO. Prioritize inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts; make judgements and recommendations to ensure smooth day-to-day engagements.
Act as a liaison and provide support to the Board of Directors. Arrange and handle all logistics for Board meetings and events: schedule meetings; draft agendas; develop, compile, and distribute presentation materials; and record meeting minutes on behalf of Board Secretary. Adhere to compliance with applicable rules and regulations set in bylaws regarding Board matters.
Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks that facilitate the CEO’s ability to effectively lead the organization, including: assisting with special projects; designing and producing complex documents, reports, and presentations; collecting and preparing information for meetings with staff and outside parties; composing and preparing correspondence; maintaining contact lists; making travel arrangements; and completing expense and mileage reports.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the CEO, including those of a highly confidential or critical nature. Prioritize and determine appropriate course of action, referral, or response, exercising judgement to reflect CEO’s style and organization policy.
Work closely with the CEO to keep him/her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. Act as a "barometer," having a sense for the issues taking place in the environment and keeping the CEO updated. Anticipate CEO’s needs in advance of meetings, conferences, etc.
Coordinate all Executive Team meetings and retreats and assist with staff meetings and events as needed.
Manage all aspects of organization’s office services. Evaluate and assist in developing office policies and procedures for improved work flow and anticipate future needs as organization grows. Assist in the selection of vendors and purchase equipment, services, and supplies necessary for operation of organization.
Support the CEO and Development Consultant with donor relations and grant management, including correspondence, sending acknowledgment letters and tracking reporting obligations.
Partner with the CEO to develop, update and track progress on the organization’s strategic and operational plans.
Support with reports and filings with state and federal agencies.
Support with data entry, payroll and employee reimbursements, basic bookkeeping, and general filing.
Provide event management support as requested.
Answer main phone line and respond to inquiries.
Process and distribute daily mail.
Other projects/duties as assigned for the overall benefit of the organization.
Required Job Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Alignment to Voces Unidas’ mission;
Passionate about community organizing and movement-building;
Bachelor’s degree;
1 to 3 years of professional experience required;
Experience and knowledge of the advocacy nonprofit sector preferred;
High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, including Board members, senior executives, elected officials, donors, staff, and community leaders;
Ability to complete a high volume of tasks and projects with little or no guidance;
Ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround;
Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information;
Excellent judgment is essential;
Ability to switch gears at a moment’s notice;
Strong organizational skills and adaptability that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize competing demands in an ever-changing environment;
Proven ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problems in a timely manner;
Excellent interpersonal and professional verbal and written communication skills
Positive and collaborative professionalism and judgment;
Ability to occasionally travel to all offices, as needed;
Experience working with Spanish-dominant communities preferred; and
Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary: $45,000 to $55,000, depending on relevant years of experience
