We do this by creating opportunities where Latinas and Latinos advocate for themselves, actively participate in all civic institutions and take leadership roles in all decision-making tables. We are also building and growing political and community power in the region through our Action Fund and other affiliated organizations.
Our Organizations
Based in Glenwood Springs, Voces Unidas was the first Latino-created, Latino-led, and Latino-serving advocacy organization in the central mountain region in Colorado. We operate in Garfield, Pitkin, Eagle, Lake and Summit counties. Voces Unidas includes four separate organizations, all which work independently to accomplish the larger mission. The Job
We are looking for a talented, motivated leader to lead and support the business side of our family of organizations. This internal-facing position works closely with the CEO to support program staff/vendors and is responsible for the day-to-day general business administration of both Voces Unidas de las Montañas, Voces Unidas Action Fund, and other affiliated entities. This position can be based in either the Denver or Glenwood Springs office. This leader may need to travel on occasion to the various offices in the central mountain region.
Responsibilities
The Operations Manager directs internal operations to strategically help all business areas including general business administration, finance and human capital.
Operations
Responsible for the management of office resources, vendors, technology, and supplies;
Partner with the CEO to develop, update and track progress on the organization’s strategic and operational plans;
Assist the CEO with Board of Directors staff duties, including supporting the development and archiving of quarterly Board meeting agendas, monthly reports and any official record of the organization;
Manage grant contracts and reporting obligations of the organization, in coordination with the Development team and the CEO;
Support the CEO with donor relations, including correspondence and acknowledgment letters;
Ensure program evaluation data, progress and impact are tracked for reporting purposes;
Oversee planning of regular staff/vendor meetings to drive the priorities of the organization;
Manage physical office space and leasing processes to meet short- and long-term organizational goals;
Support and track compliance with state and federal reporting requirements for all affiliated organizations and entities; and
Other duties as assigned.
Finance and Budget
Support the CEO with the annual budget planning process;
Maintain organization-wide list of active projects, including timeline, budgeted expenses, and actual expenses;
Responsible for managing, tracking, processing and properly coding all donations and grant contracts of the organizations (Quickbooks and donor CRM);
Responsible for managing, tracking, processing and properly coding all expenditures of the organizations (Quickbooks);
Manage and process all employee reimbursements and vendor payment requests in a timely fashion;
Manage all data entry, bookkeeping, recordkeeping and document retention for the organizations;
Manage vendor contact information and contracts;
Manage and process biweekly payroll, in compliance with state law and properly tracking C3 and C4 activities;
Manage relationships with contract accountants, financial advisors, auditors and bookkeepers, as needed; and
Other duties as assigned.
Human Resources
With the CEO, help develop and implement HR policies and procedures that advance the strategic and operational needs of the organization (i.e. employee handbook);
Ensure that annual performance reviews are conducted at every level of the organization;
Support recruitment and retention of employees;
Support with on-boarding of new employees;
Ensure the organization is in compliance with state and federal employment and labor laws; and
Manage and track employee benefits.
Required Job Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Alignment to Voces Unidas’ mission;
Passionate about community organizing and movement-building;
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or relevant years of field experience;
Must have 3 to 5 years of relevant business/operations experience;
Experience and knowledge of the advocacy nonprofit sector preferred;
Strong organizational skills and adaptability that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize competing demands in an ever-changing environment;
Proven ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problems in a timely manner;
Excellent interpersonal and professional verbal and written communication skills
Positive and collaborative professionalism and judgment;
Must have experience with Quickbooks and/or basic understanding of bookkeeping, accounting practices;
Ability to occasionally travel to all offices, as needed;
Experience working with Spanish-dominant communities preferred; and
Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary: $55,000 to $70,000+, depending on relevant years of experience
