Voces Unidas de las Montañas (VUM) is seeking outgoing, bilingual individuals interested in part-time, year-round opportunities doing door-to-door canvassing in Latino neighborhoods/residential areas in Summit, Lake, Eagle, Pitkin and Garfield counties.

No prior experience is required.

Responsibilities 

• Go door-to-door in key Latino neighborhoods/residential areas to engage voters and community members to learn more about their interests in policy issues and also share information about the importance of voting;

• Visit assigned households within a designated area to collect data and share information using a hand-held mobile device;

• Where no contact can be made, leave information and a note on how to reach the organization;

• In some cases, instead of door-to-door, make phone calls or send text messages to a targeted list to collect data, share information and/or do follow-up;

• Participate and complete all required training;

• Complete reports on progress and meet all goals and metrics.

Qualifications

• Be able to speak Spanish and English;   

• Must have access to a car;

• Must have excellent communication and people skills; must be comfortable speaking with strangers and people from different backgrounds about policy issues;

• Ability to work under deadlines;

• Experience in phone or door-to-door canvassing is a plus but not required;

• Political campaign experience is a plus but not required.

Hours & Hourly Rate

• The position pays $18/hour plus reimbursement for miles travelled. Hourly rate can be higher if you have prior canvassing experience. 

• Hours and days are flexible. Canvassing can happen between 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Canvassers must be available to work at least 15-20 hrs per month.

Work Location

• In the field, in various communities. Training and team meetings are based in Glenwood Springs or in other satellite offices. Phone banking can be done from home.

This is year-round, part-time role. Volume of work varies by month. Canvassers are paid via a third-party employment agency.
