Welcome to our new regional organizing manager: Alan Muñoz

Voces Unidas de las Montañas and Voces Unidas Action Fund are pleased to welcome Alan Muñoz Valenciano as Regional Manager of Organizing Programs for the Aspen to Parachute region.

Alan will lead Voces Unidas’ organizing and advocacy programs for the Aspen to Parachute region, including identifying, training, coaching and mobilizing local Latina and Latino leaders to build community power and create systemic change in their communities. He will also support activities like our annual Latino Advocacy Day (LAD) programs in Denver and Washington, D.C., and involve leaders in our policy and electoral work.

Originally from Calvillo, Aguascalientes, Alan grew up in the Colorado River Valley — graduating from Rifle High School, Alan helped restart the Asociación de Jóvenes Unidos en Acción (AJUA) organization as a high-school student after the Trump Administration rescinded DACA. AJUA was started in Carbondale in 2012 in response to local police working with federal immigration agents to target undocumented high school youth during school hours.

Most recently, Alan organized Latino workers in the Denver-metro area for el Centro Humanitario de los Trabajadores. He also coordinated a statewide project for the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado in the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alan is the first in his family to graduate from college, earning an Associate’s Degree from Colorado Mountain College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a Criminology concentration from Colorado State University.

Alan can be reached at alan@vocesunidas.org.
