Latino delegation advocates for federal policies

On Sept. 16–18, 2025, Voces Unidas, in partnership with COLOR, held our third annual Latino Advocacy Day in Washington, DC—successfully elevating the needs of Latino communities in Colorado. The next step is action from our elected officials.

For the third consecutive year, Voces Unidas and COLOR mobilized a Colorado delegation consisting of Latinas and Latinos from various counties in Colorado to advance policy change through direct engagement with members of Congress. The delegation met with Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper, as well as Representatives Brittany Pettersen and Gabe Evans, and also held additional discussions with staff from the offices of Representatives Jason Crow and Jeff Hurd.

Delegates shared testimony on the real-world impacts of immigration policy and raised urgent concerns about reproductive justice and access to health care, calling on federal leaders to intensify their efforts and deliver results that ensure Colorado’s Latino communities are fully and fairly represented in Washington.

During our congressional meetings, we urged our members of Congress to exercise their oversight authority to hold the Trump administration accountable for harms affecting Latinos in Colorado.

Delegates urged Colorado’s members of Congress to address the harms H.R. 1 would impose on Latinas and Latinos in our state. Congress must pass proactive legislation to remedy these impacts and ensure Latino communities in Colorado can access health care and reproductive services.

We also held our third annual Capitol Briefing, co-hosted by Senator Michael Bennet and Senator John Hickenlooper, where congressional staff and nonprofit partners were presented with the findings of the 2025 Colorado Latino Policy Agenda, reflecting priorities identified by more than 1,700 Latino respondents statewide.

The survey informing that report found that economic concerns continue to dominate the list of top policy priorities among Latinos in Colorado, while the implementation and enforcement of hostile immigration policies by the Trump administration is increasingly impacting our communities. We are holding the federal government accountable as we continue to experience violations of our constitutional rights and will continue looking for answers from those elected to represent us.
